Iran doc ‘Nishaan’ to vie at Portuguese fest

Portuguese Heritales-Heritage International Film Festival has selected Iranian documentary ‘Nishaan’ for its competition lineup.

Co-directed and produced by Mahdi Sargolzaie and Kiana Barzegar, the doc will be in contention at the Documentary competition program of the 4th edition of the fest.

‘Nishaan’ has been themed on an ethnic tradition in which girls and boys since they are adolescents are forced to nominate elders by giving them gifts. The gift is called Nishaan.   

Mohammad Alizadeh-Mousavi, Soulmaz Khoujini, Mahin Shakouriand Ali Basabr are among the cast members of the flick.

Established in 2016, the Heritales-International Heritage Film Festival aims to show the anthropological knowledge of different cultures. It shows ways of life and rituals that form a culture.

The upcoming edition of the event is slated for September 24-27, 2020.
